June 22 (Renewables Now) - Italy’s Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) will partner with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (BME:GAM) in its 291 MW of wind power projects in Russia, Enel Russia’s Carlo Villamagna announced last week.

Enel was selected as preferred bidder for the Azov and Murmansk projects, of 90 MW and 201 MW, respectively, in the 2017 Russian renewable energy tender. The wind farms have to meet a 65% local content requirement.

The smaller wind park is to begin operations by 2020, while the other is slated for completion by 2021. Once operational, they will sell power on the wholesale market and will get capacity payments by the government.

Yesterday, Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said it has been picked as supplier for wind projects awarded to Fortum and Rusnano in the Russian auction.
