October 15 (Renewables Now) - The Greek renewables unit of Italy’s Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) today inaugurated the 154-MW-plus Kafireas wind farm complex in the municipality of Karystos, Evia.

Enel Green Power Hellas SA (EGPH) invested a total of EUR 300 million (USD 330m) in the project, which involved the construction of seven wind farms with a total of 67 turbines. Together, the plants will be able to generate some 480 GWh of electricity per year, serving a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Hellenic Electricity Market Operator (DAPEEP).

The project also included the interconnection with mainland Greece via a 150-kV high-voltage overhead, underground and submarine cable as well as two new 150-kV high-voltage substations in Evia, Enel said.

EGPH now has more than 460 MW of installed wind, solar and hydropower generating capacity.
