Italian energy group Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) said Monday it has consolidated its advanced energy solutions in North America under one brand with EnerNOC Inc, a US subsidiary of Enel X, changing its name to Enel X.
Enel X is the Italian group's advanced energy services division. The global brand was launched in November last year and is focused on developing innovative products and digital solutions.
Enel said the brand integration will allow Enel X to offer a broader range of energy services in North America and enhanced expertise in energy storage, demand response and energy advisory services.
"We are creating an innovative energy system based on the exchange of sustainable services and fueled by leading-edge technologies, innovation and partnerships, to reflect the overall shift of society towards an increasingly urbanized and connected world than ever before," said Francesco Venturini, head of Enel X.
Enel acquired Boston-based EnerNOC a year ago and has since grown the business, adding more than 200 new employees for a total of over 600 in North America, and expanding its energy storage presence into new markets including Ontario.
Enel X in North America is based in Boston, Massachusetts, the state where Enel's North American renewables business, Enel Green Power North America, is headquartered. The energy services unit has almost 3,600 customers in North America, covering more than 10,000 sites, representing around 3.8 GW of demand response capacity and over 20 operational behind-the-meter storage projects.
