Enel Green Power lifts installed capacity in Greece to 186 MW

Aug 30, 2011 - Enel Green Power (BIT:EGPW), part of Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL), has launched its Kouloukonas wind farm and thus raised its installed capacity in Greece to 186 MW, the renewables company said Tuesday.

Kouloukonas, located on the island of Crete, has an installed capacity of 5 MW. Its output is planned to reach 9.5 million kWh a year, enough to cover the needs of 2,300 households and cut 10,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Greece is increasingly interested in the renewables sector and Enel Green Power will aim to further grow and boost its position there through another 40 MW of wind, hydro and photovoltaic projects, chief executive Francesco Starace said in the press release.
