Enel Green Power Espana breaks ground on 21-MW wind project
Endesa's Enel Green Power Espana wind parks
Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE), the renewables unit of Spanish power utility Endesa SA (BME:ELE), has initiated construction work on the 21.3-MW Los Gigantes wind park in Teruel and Zaragoza provinces.
EGPE expects to invest a total of EUR 20 million (USD 21.7m) in order to install six 3.55-MW turbines in the towns of Blesa and Moyuela. Upon completion, which is expected by the end of the year, the wind farm will have the capacity to produce some 62 GWh of electricity per year.
The company hooked to the grid 13 wind parks in these provinces last year, for a total capacity of 424 MW.
Endesa aims to decarbonise its generation mix in full by 2050. Its next goal is to reach 10.2 GW of installed renewables by 2022, thus expanding its portfolio from 7.4 GW in 2019.
