Renewable energy producer Enefit Green AS (TAL:EGR1T) said today it has taken the final investment decision (FID) on a 72-MW wind project in Tolpanvaara, Finland.
The company is currently preparing the construction agreement with the idea of initiating building works in the first quarter of 2022. The EUR-82.9-million (USD 93.3m) project featuring Nordex turbines should be finalised in late 2023.
Upon completion, the wind farm will produce some 250 GWh of electricity annually, which corresponds to the average annual consumption of around 76,000 Estonian households, Enefit Green said. It has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place.
Enefit Green bought the project from Finnish state forest management company Metsähallitus in 2020. The former aims to more than double its installed electricity generation capacity to 1,100 MW by 2025.
