Endesa breaks ground on 12-MW Spanish wind park

Enel Green Powe US wind farm

May 27 (Renewables Now) - Spanish utility Endesa SA (BME:ELE) said today its renewables unit Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE) has begun the construction of a 12-MW wind farm in Lugo province.

The company estimates it will have to invest more than EUR 15 million (USD 16.8m) in the Paradela wind project. With six 2-MW wind turbines, the wind power facility should be able to generate 42 GWh of clean energy per year and offset 28,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually upon completion in late 2019.

The Spanish unit of Enel is also developing two other wind parks in the Galicia region. The three plants, including the 42-MW Serra das Penas and the 8-MW Reformado de Pena Ventosa projects, will require more than EUR 72 million in combined investment and will bring the company's total wind capacity in the region to 62 MW.

All three projects are part of the 540 MW of wind capacity the company secured in the tenders held in May 2017.
