EIT InnoEnergy, the European sustainable energy accelerator, has launched a global call for start-ups in need of support to speed up commercialisation of products or services that will help advance the energy transition.
This is the first global call for the European company. The top 20 start-ups that respond will receive support to accelerate commercialisation through a tailored programme that may include technology development, market access and development, team creation or funding access. The big winner will get EUR 100,000 (USD 110,000) in funding.
The deadline for applications is December 19, 2019.
Sustainable energy innovations from Asia and the US are of particular interest because clean air and vast internal combustion engine vehicle uptake there are causing a noticeable impact on society, InnoEnergy noted. It also said it expects innovators to be focusing on heat and transport in 2020 as the two sectors that are harder to decarbonise.
“We are at an environmental crossroads. Action needs to be taken today to ensure we reach our global carbon reduction targets – which is why we’ve expanded our call beyond Europe,” said EIT InnoEnergy’s Innovation Director, Elena Bou.
