The 475-MW Nysater onshore wind farm cluster in Sweden will be officially opened on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by government officials, the owners said.
Funds managed by Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP), former Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners AG, is the controlling shareholder in project vehicle Nysater Wind AB with an 80% stake. The remaining 20% are owned by RWE Renewables, a unit of Germany’s RWE AG (ETR:RWE).
Construction of the huge wind park was initiated in 2018. It was progressed during the COVID-19 pandemic and during a period of severe supply chain disruptions, noted Tobias Griesshaber, EIP Co-Head of Investment,
Located in the county of Vasternorrland, central Sweden, the Nysater complex consists of 114 Nordex turbines forming the 307-MW Haestkullen and 167-MW Bjoernlandhoejden wind farms. The overall output of the turbines is expected to be around 1.7 TWh per year, or enough to cover the consumption of more than 300,000 local homes annually.
An unnamed blue-chip energy company will buy electricity from the complex under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
RWE Renewables will operate and maintain the capacity.
