Egco in talks to acquire 200-MW Thai wind project - report
Nov 22, 2012 - Thai independent power producer Electricity Generating Pcl (SET:EGCO) is in talks to acquire a 90% stake in a wind power project with planned capacity of 200 MW in northeastern Thailand, daily Bangkok Post reported today.
The company expects to close the acquisition of the wind project for some USD 400 million (EUR 310.9m) in the beginning of 2013, the daily said citing Egco's president Sahust Pratuknukul.
The project, located in the province of Chaiyaphum, is projected to start operation in 2014.
Egco has unveiled plans for capital expenditure of some THB 10 billion (USD 326m/EUR 253m) for capacity expansion in 2013, most of which to be spent on renewable projects, Bangkok Post said. Egco posted a third-quarter revenue growth of 126% on the year to THB 4.67 billion and a 35% rise in net profit to some THB 2 billion.
