Offshore Structures (Britain), EEW Group's UK facility that manufactures large diameter pipes for offshore wind foundations, is set to cut jobs because of bleak near-term prospects, Teesside Live reported on Thursday.
The facility, located by the river Tees in northern England, told the website that its current contract for the 1.4-GW Hornsea 2 wind farm, which will be located off the Yorkshire coast, will finish by the autumn. EEW OSB does not expect more work this year.
Some of the facility's 100 workers are under consultation. The firm cannot say how many will lose their jobs before the consultation process is completed.
A worker told Teesside Live that the facility hoped to win an order for the 3.6-GW Dogger Bank wind complex. Work under such a contract would not start before the middle of 2021.
