EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced today it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 50-MW Hidalgo II wind farm project in the US state of Texas.
Specifically, EDP Renewable North America LLC has entered into a 15-year PPA with an unnamed company of the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. The Hidalgo II wind park is expected to be up and running in 2019 and it is adjacent to EDPR’s 250-MW Hidalgo wind farm, the company said.
Last week, the renewables arm of Portuguese utility EDP (ELI:EDP) also secured PPAs for its 150-MW Broadlands wind project in Illinois. EDPR has now contracted 90% of its 3.5-GW global capacity target for the 2016-2020 period. In the US alone, it has more than 1.6 GW of long-term PPAs for wind assets to be installed during that period, it noted.
