Renewable energy company EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Friday that it has secured 56 MW of onshore wind capacity under the 15-year contract-for-difference (CfD) scheme in the UK's Allocation Round 5 auction.
The CfDs concern the 41-MW Ben Sca and the 15-MW Lurg Hill projects in Scotland which are currently under development.
The onshore wind schemes were awarded CfD with a nominal price of GBP 70.7 (USD 88.2/EUR 82.4) per MWh, updated to inflation from the GBP 52.29 recorded in 2012. The two contracts start in 2027.
The Ben Sca and Lurg Hill facilities are expected to begin producing electricity by 2026.
EDPR noted that it currently has 8.9 GW of secured renewable capacity additions globally for 2023-2026, which includes operational plants and projects under construction or with a final investment decision. This is equal to about 52% of the 17 GW target it has for the four-year period.
