EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of a 75-MW wind farm project in Indiana, scheduled to start operations in 2018.
Named Meadow Lake VI, the wind project will supply power for the Wabash Valley Power Association, the company said.
With this new deal, signed by fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewable North America LLC, EDP Renovaveis now has a PPA portfolio of 1.1 GW in the country, to be installed between 2016 and 2020. The renewables arm of Portuguese utility EDP (ELI:EDP) attributes its success in securing PPAs to its low risk profile and its growth strategy, the firm noted.
EDPR is also targeting 1.8 GW of projects in the US by the end of the decade and it has already secured 60% of that goal.
Early this week, the Portuguese Council of Ministers approved the development of EDPR's 25-MW offshore floating wind project in Viana do Castelo.
