EDPR secures 33 MW of wind at Greek tender

EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Wednesday that it was awarded а 20-year contract-for-difference (CfD) for a total of 33 MW of wind power in Greece's recent auction.

The 33 MW represent about 13% of the total capacity auctioned, EDPR pointed out.

The renewables arm of Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) will deliver power from its Xironomi wind farm, located in central region of the country. Commercial operation of that facility is scheduled to start in 2022. With this new contract, the company now has 120 MW in its Greek portfolio to be commissioned between 2020 and 2022.

Overall, Greece’s Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) planned to award over 512 MW of wind and solar power projects through a technology-specific auction. The bids were held in two separate categories.

Back in July, EDPR secured a 20-year CfDs for its 30-MW Chalkodonio wind farm at Greece's July 1 tender. In all, about 179.55 MW of wind and 142.88 MW of solar power capacity were awarded at this particular auction.
