Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Aug 15-19)
Aug 19, 2022 17:14 CESTNovember 26 (Renewables Now) - Renewable energy producer EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) has inaugurated a 45-MW wind farm in Central Greece, its first in the Mediterranean country the company announced on Thursday.
The renewables arm of Portuguese utility Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) expects the new wind park to generate enough clean electricity to meet the annual demand of more than 28,000 local households.
Located in the Livadi area, near the town of Malesina, the wind power facility will contribute to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, offsetting some 48,000 tonnes annually.
EDP and EDPR’s CEO, Miguel Stilwell d’Andrade, noted that the company plans to continue to explore opportunities in the Greek renewable energy sector. EDPR is targetting close to 500 MW of installed capacity in Greece by 2025, which represents over EUR 500 million (USD 561.1m) in investments.
