EDPR connects 44-MW wind farm in Italy

Renewable energy producer EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) announced on Thursday it has connected a 44-MW wind farm in Sicily, Italy.

Located in Fulgatore, a hamlet in the municipality of Trapani, the wind park is comprised of nine turbines capable of generating 83 GWh per year. This volume is enough to meet the demand of 27,680 local homes.

EDPR said that the facility was built within 18 months from the project award in an Italian auction in January 2021.

With the new addition, the renewable energy company now has an installed wind capacity of 463 MW in Italy.

According to EDPR's general manager for Italy, Roberto Pasqua, the Fulgatore wind power plant shows the company's commitment to the local renewables market and its willingness to keep contributing to the socio-economic development of the regions it operates in.
