EDP Renewables said on Thursday that its 200-MW Harvest Ridge Wind Farm in Douglas County, Illinois, has reached full operation.
The wind park, located north of the town of Newman, consists of 37 V150 3.7 MW wind turbines and 11 V136 4.3 MW turbines by Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS).
The facility's output is contracted under long-term power purchase agreements (PPA), with US retailer Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) accounting for 50 MW and Wabash Valley Power Alliance for 100 MW. A private offtaker is purchasing the remaining 50 MW.
Construction efforts on site will continue over the coming months, including road repairs and other land restoration work.
EDP Renewables currently operates 1.2 GW of wind capacity in Illinois.
