May 23 (Renewables Now) - EDF Renewables North America has contracted Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) to supply turbines for its 232-MW Milligan wind project in Nebraska.

The Spain-based manufacturer will deliver 30 units of the SG 4.5-145 and 36 units of the SG 2.7-129 turbines for the specific project, it announced on Wednesday. The wind farm will be located in Milligan County and is planned to become operational at end-2020.

Siemens Gamesa noted that the SG 4.5-145 machine offers a flexible power rating from 4.2 MW to 4.8 MW, depending on the site conditions, and is optimised for medium onshore wind locations. The deal from EDF Renewables also includes a service and maintenance agreement for its premium maintenance programme.

Following the latest order, Siemens Gamesa has crossed the 1-GW threshold of sold SG 4.5-145 turbines globally, according to the statement.
