July 2 (Renewables Now) - The UK renewables joint venture of EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles has sold a 49% stake in a portfolio of wind farms totalling 550 MW for cash proceeds of GBP 701 million (USD 919m/EUR 791m).

Specifically, EDF Renewables has sold the stake in the portfolio of 24 UK wind parks to fund manager Dalmore Capital Limited and Pensions Infrastructure Platform. The transaction includes an investment from large UK local authority pension schemes, according to the announcement.

EDF Renewables will continue to be the majority owner of the wind portfolio and the operator of the plants. EDF Energy, in turn, will continue to buy the electricity generated by the wind farms.

Bruno Bensasson, Group Executive Vice-President in charge of Renewable Energies and CEO of EDF Energies Nouvelles, commented that partnerships such as the one with Dalmore Capital and Pensions Infrastructure Platform enable investments in new projects.
