EDF Renewable Energy flips switch of 101 MW Kansas wind farm
Oct 26, 2012 - US company EDF Renewable Energy, former enXco and part of French EDF Energies Nouvelles, yesterday officially put online its 100.8-MW wind farm in Kansas.
The Spearville 3 wind farm, which has started producing power earlier this month, includes 63 wind turbines from US engineering group General Electric (NYSE:GE) and will generate enough power to supply some 40,000 households, EDF Renewable Energy calculates. EDF Renewable Services will operate and maintain the facility.
Utility Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) will buy the output of the wind farm under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
