June 14 (Renewables Now) - A group led by Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF) has emerged as the winner in the French offshore wind auction concerning the 600-MW Dunkirk project, it was announced today.

EDF Renewables, Innogy SE (ETR:IGY) and Enbridge Inc (TSE:ENB) were awarded the project at a winning price of below EUR 50 (USD 56.30) per MWh.

“Things are starting to look more positive for wind energy in France again with the results from the Dunkirk offshore auction and the latest onshore tender,” said Giles Dickson, the CEO of wind industry body WindEurope.

Earlier in the week, France unveiled it plans to tender 1 GW of offshore wind annually up to 2028, targeting 6.5 GW of installations by that year, with 11.5 GW tendered.

On that topic, Dickson commented that the French government needs to specify how much of the planned 1 GW offshore wind procurement will be fixed-bottom and how much will be floating.
