EDC aims to bring more power to Negros Island

(SeeNews) – Nov 2, 2011 – Philippines-based geothermal energy explorer and developer Energy Development Corporation (PSE:EDC), or EDC, is planning to add 20 MW to Negros Island, when its Nasulo project comes on stream in 2014, online news provider ThinkGeoEnergy said on Tuesday.
The Nasulo geothermal project will be operating in Palinpinon, a town in Philippines' province of Negros Oriental.
The increase in generating capacity will be helped by transfer of 40 MW equipment from EDC's Northern Negros Geothermal Production (NNGP) unit to Palinpinon, The plans for the transfer have been unveiled by Dwight Maxino, EDC vice president for the NNGP field. According to Maxino, the transfer will allow the company to make more efficient use of the resources at the Nasulo steam field and therefore to offer the increased power to customers, such as electric cooperatives in Negros Occidental province.
