Eco-Energy, NuStar team up for ethanol train terminal in Virginia

Jul 30, 2012 - US biofuel distributor Eco-Energy Holdings Inc on Monday unveiled a long-term partnership agreement with NuStar Terminals Operations Partnership LP for the development of an ethanol unit train and storage facility at the latter's site in Dumfries, Virginia.

The ethanol unloading, storage and outbound truck loading facility will be jointly developed by the partners, with each bearing their own development, construction and refurbishment costs. Financial details were not provided. NuStar Terminals Operations is part of NuStar Energy LP (NYSE:NS).

The ethanol unit train terminal will have a storage capacity of about 155,000 barrels of ethanol and will be able to distribute more than 400,000 barrels each month. It will serve the Northern, Virginia and Washington, District Columbia markets.

The facility will offer 24/7 product access and will be designed to receive as many as 96 rail car unit trains through CSX Transportation, the operating subsidiary of CSX Corp (NYSE:CSX). Operations are scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2013.
