EBRD clears EUR-250m renewables programme in Ukraine - report

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has given the green light to a new EUR-250-million (USD 293m) programme aimed at supporting private renewable energy projects in Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

The programme, USELF III (Ukraine Sustainable Energy Lending Facility), will replace an existing one that has expired on June 30, 2018, EBRD Senior Adviser for External Relations Anton Usov told the news agency.

The initial programme financed over EUR 100 million worth of renewables with a combined capacity surpassing 150 MW.

The National Action Plan for Renewable Energy calls for Ukraine to increase its share of renewable energy to 11% by 2020 from just 1.5% currently, the report mentions.
