EADS' Cassidian enters into partnership with German Enertrag
Nov 8, 2011 - Cassidian, the defence and security division of European aerospace group EADS (EPA:EAD), has signed a letter of intent with German renewable energy company Enertrag AG for the use of a radar, EADS said today.
The two companies agreed that a radar of Cassidian will be integrated into Enertag's system of beacons.
The radar will warn pilots about possible collisions with wind turbines, by locating aircraft or helicopters flying towards a turbine at an early stage, and only triggering signals such as LED lamps when they are needed, EADS said.
The two companies intend to equip a pilot project with the new system in order to meet the requirements for official certification of a joint product, which will be then available to customers in the wind turbine market.
Enertrag specialises in planning, installation and operation of wind power plants.
