Dutch Damen Shipyard to supply high speed support vessel to MarineCo UK

(ADPnews) - Sep 8, 2010 - Scottish workboat and tug charterer MarineCo UK Ltd signed a contract with Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyard Group for a high speed support vessel, plus one optional, Damen said last week.
No financial details were disclosed.

The vessel, currently under construction, is expected to be completed by June 2011 and will serve the offshore wind industry.

MarineCo already has a number of Damen vessels in its fleet.

The vessel will measure 26 meters (85.3 ft) in length and 10 meters in width and will have a fuel capacity of 12,000 litres, making it suitable for transferring fuel to wind turbines in challenging sea areas.

"The market has been looking for a vessel that can continue to operate in higher sea states, while at the same time offering lower fuel consumption. Now we have proven the concept in model tests and this vessel is a reality", Damen sales manager for Europe Martijn Smit said.
