Irish renewables developer DP Energy and Spanish utility group Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) today announced the publishing of a scoping report in relation to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) for their Inis Ealga Marine Energy Park project.
Inis Ealga is a gigawatt-scale floating wind farm that is proposed to be built off the coast of the Irish counties of Cork and Waterford. The scheme is in its early stages of development and is targeted for commercial operation by the end of the decade.
The scoping report outlines the proposed scope of, and methodology for use in the preparation of, the future EIAR for the 1-GW project. Consultation on the scoping report, which is available online at the project website, is now open until September 21, 2022.
“Publication of the EIAR Scoping Report for Inis Ealga Marine Energy Park is a significant milestone on the path to eventual preparation of a Development Permission application for the project, supported by a robust and fitting EIAR,” commented Edwina White, DP Energy’s Consenting and Environment Manager.
Royal HaskoningDHV and Mott MacDonald have been appointed to develop a full EIAR.
Inis Ealga is part of a 3-GW offshore wind pipeline that is being developed by a joint venture between DP Energy and Iberdrola.
