London-based investment management firm Downing LLP on Thursday said it has closed the acquisition of the 30-MW Konttisuo wind park in Finland and announced the plant’s commissioning.
The purchase from German project developer Energiequelle GmbH was agreed in May and was due to be wrapped up upon the start of the project’s commercial operations. Financial details were not available.
Located near Soini, in the region of Southern Ostrobothnia, the Konttisuo wind farm will be capable of producing electricity for around 37,000 local homes annually. It is equipped with seven N149 turbines supplied and serviced by Nordex.
Energiequelle will oversee the wind park’s technical and commercial operations.
Bagnall Energy Limited, the renewables and infrastructure arm of Downing Estate Planning Service, will own the wind farm. The deal marks Downing’s first investment in Finland and the subsidiary’s first wind investment in the Nordic region, the UK firm noted.
