April 14 (Renewables Now) - Chinese state-run enterprise Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) has successfully concluded the assembly and commissioning for various subsystems of its 7-MW, typhoon-resistant offshore wind turbine.

The work on the DEW-D7000-186 machine was carried out at DEC’s manufacturing base in Fujian and was finalised on March 30. DEC has designed the turbine for sea areas with low wind speeds, strong salt spray corrosion and strong typhoon activity. The device has a rotor diameter of 186 metres (610.2 ft).

DEC says the DEW-D7000-186 is the anti-typhoon offshore wind turbine that has the largest unit capacity and rotor diameter in the middle and low wind speed regions of China.
