Danish utility Dong Energy A/S (CPH:DENERG) said Wednesday it has entered into a three-year component exchange deal with Ziton A/S for out-of-warranty offshore wind turbines.
Under the terms of the framework agreement, Ziton’s jack-up crane vessels will service machines in Danish waters, which are no longer covered by an operation and maintenance (O&M) warranty. The pact applies to other DONG Energy-operated wind farms in Denmark and UK, too, and has an option to be extended to five years.
Typical O&M tasks related to main component exchanges of the wind turbines will cover the replacement of blades, rotors, blade bearings, main bearings, gearboxes, generators and transformers among other services requiring a stable lifting platform. Ziton will also be in charge of activities involving project management, plan preparations such as site-specific analysis, marine operations and lifting plans, lifting operation and supervision, as well as design and construction of seafastening.
“Framework agreements of this type provide a commercial setup that allow service providers to take a long-term perspective, which will contribute to driving down costs in a sustainable manner,” Ziton CEO, Thorsten Jalk, explained.
