Detroit Edison issues RFP for 245 MW of green power plants
(ADPnews) - Nov 19, 2010 - Detroit Edison, a unit of US DTE Energy (NYSE:DTE), Thursday said it issued a request for proposal (RFP) for 245 MW of clean energy from wind, solar, hydro, biomass, or landfill gas plants.
The plants have to start operating by the end of 2014. Some 120 MW of the total capacity would be put in operation by the end of 2012, the company added.
Potential bidders can submit notice of intent until January 21, 2011.
Detroit Edison said the move was part of its strategy to enhance the share of green energy in its mix. It expects to add some 1,200 MW of clean power to its portfolio and aims to derive 10% of its power from renewable sources by 2015. Half of the power is projected to be supplied by own plants.
The company anticipates most of its clean energy to be produced by wind resources.
