The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) said on Thursday that eight parties have applied to participate in the tender for the country’s largest wind farm -- the 600-MW Kriegers Flak project in the Baltic Sea.
In a statement, the agency said that this is the largest number of applicants for a wind tender in Denmark’s history. DEA attributes the great interest to the country’s attractive framework conditions and the effective and transparent bidding process.
The agency will now examine the pre-qualification applications to check if they comply with the previously set economic, financial and technical criteria. The final bids will be submitted on November 8, 2016, according to the statement.
The offshore wind park is seen to be completed by the end of 2021.
Just recently the European Commission (EC) gave its blessing to the revised technical layout for a planned 400-MW offshore interconnection between Germany and Denmark. It will use the national grid connections to Kriegers Flak and Germany’s 48-MW Baltic 1 and 288-MW Blatic 2 offshore wind farms. These facilities are actually located less than 30 km away from each other.
