August 25 (Renewables Now) - Belgian marine company DEME Group NV (EBR:DEME), through DEME Offshore, and Norwegian offshore wind and subsea contractor Havfram AS have teamed up to provide construction services for Norway’s up-and-coming offshore wind farm market.

The parties, which today announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding, are looking to supply transport and installation services for foundations, cables, wind turbines and substations across the bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind segments. The partnership will first target the Sorlige Nordsjo II projects, a lease auction for which is expected in the coming months.

The companies noted that the Norwegian government recently unveiled an ambition for the development of 30 GW of offshore wind power generating capacity by 2040. Offshore wind demand will also be bolstered by electrification of existing oil and gas production assets, which will be needed as part of the energy transition, the two added.
