Deepwater Wind files final applications for 30-MW US offshore wind park
Oct 3, 2012 - Deepwater Wind LLC on Tuesday said it had filed final permit applications with state and federal authorities for the 30-MW Block Island wind project off the Rhode Island coast.
The offshore wind power developer has submitted applications with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Department of the Interior's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council.
The application filling comes after the completion of Deepwater Wind's three-year study of the impact of the proposed wind farm on the environment, in which it has injected over USD 7 million (EUR 5m) in private funds.
The final permitting process is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2013.
