Australian builder Decmil Group Ltd (ASX:DCG) today said it has won a contract for balance of plant (BOP) works for Alinta Energy’s 214-MW Yandin wind farm in Western Australia.
The contract, worth AUD 79 million (USD 55.5m/EUR 49.8m), was awarded by Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS), which was in February selected as the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. Decmil’s scope of work will include the delivery civil and electrical BOP solutions for the wind farm, including the design and construction of wind turbine bases, access tracks, site cabling, a switch room and a substation. It plans to begin works on the project in the middle of this year.
To be located north of Perth, the Yandin wind farm will have 51 units of 4.2-MW turbines installed, which will be able to generate enough power to meet the annual demand of 200,000 households. It is scheduled to become operational by mid-2020. Vestas will take care of the plant’s operations and maintenance (O&M) following completion.
Including the Yandin job, Decmil said its contracted and preferred order book for 2020 and 2021 is estimated at AUD 750 million on a combined basis.
