The UK has set ambitious goals to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and has committed to 50 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, with 5 GW of that coming from new floating offshore wind projects. However, with only 14 GW of total installed offshore wind capacity as of 2023, 80 MW of which comes from floating, the country faces a significant shortfall that must be urgently addressed if we’re to avoid missing both domestic and international opportunities.
