Deadline for S Africa renewables projects could be extended further - report
Jul 27, 2012 - The deadline for the financial close for the 28 winning projects under the first bidding round of South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme could be pushed back further, Engineering News Online reported yesterday.
Initially set for June 19, the deadline had already been extended to the end of July.
Engineering News Online cited correspondence to developers from the Department of Energy which said that the department was still unable to inform the 28 preferred bidders when it and state utility Eskom could complete the implementation, power purchase and direct agreements, and that further communication would be issued as soon as possible.
The 28 first-round projects represent a combined capacity of about 1,415 MW.
