Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Jun 27-Jul 1)
Jul 01, 2022 17:05 CESTDecember 31 (Renewables Now) - Texas-based Darling Ingredients Inc (NYSE:DAR) on Wednesday said it has agreed to acquire Valley Proteins Inc in a move that will boost its green fuel capabilities.
Darling, which processes agri-food wastes into specialty ingredients, will pay USD 1.1 billion (EUR 971m) in cash for Valley Proteins, an operator of 18 rendering and used cooking oil facilities in the southern, southeast and mid-Atlantic parts of the US.
“In the evolving world of ESG [environmental, social and corporate governance] and global decarbonisation, Valley Proteins will supplement Darling's global supply of waste fats and greases,” Darling chairman and chief executive Randall C Stuewe said, adding this will give his company more low-carbon feedstock to produce renewable diesel and possibly sustainable aviation fuel.
Darling is a joint venture partner with Valero Energy Corp in renewable diesel producer Diamond Green Diesel.
