Australia-based technology company CSG Exploration and Production Services will build a 50-kW pilot wave power plant in Zonguldak, Turkey, as announced by the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA) last week.
It is expected that the Municipality of Zonguldak, Bulent Ecevit University, the Special Provincial Administration of Zonguldak, the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, BAKKA, and CSG will sign an official agreement in April, after which construction can start. Once operational, the facility is to produce enough power to cover the needs of 25 homes.
The project in Zonguldak is to be the first in Turkey to generate electricity from wave energy and is an important step in encouraging the use of alternative energy sources, BAKKA said.
