Crown Estate to issue lease to 10-MW tidal farm in Wales - report

Oct 13, 2011 - The Crown Estate has agreed to issue a lease to a 10-MW tidal power project in Wales, developed by UK energy company RWE Npower Renewables and tidal power developer Marine Current Turbines (MCT), BBC News said.

The GBP-70-million (USD 110m/EUR 80m) project will be located off the Anglesey coast. The tidal farm is to consist of seven turbines.

According to the report, the managing body of the British monarchy's properties would sign the lease agreement once the project receives the relevant environmental consents by the Welsh Government. RWE and MCT have filed an application in March and expect the government's decision within months.
