Council bans 42-MW PI wind project in Scottish Highlands
Sep 9, 2014 - UK wind projects developer PI Renewables Ltd was denied a planning permit to build the 42-MW Carn Gorm wind park in Ross-shire county in the Scottish Highlands.
The company wished to install the 14 turbines on the slopes of Carn Gorm near the Ben Wyvis mountain. However, the Highland Council has refused to approve the plan due to concerns the wind park would have a detrimental impact on the landscape.
Previously, the project was also opposed by the Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) and the John Muir Trust.
PI Renewables still has the option to appeal to the Scottish government.
