In our story dated November 15, 2010 and headlined "US SebaiCMET funds testing of wаve energy generator in Florida" please read in the third paragraph "Each unit could produce enough energy to purify some 500 million gallons of water a year." instead of "Each unit could produce enough energy to purify some 500 million gallons of water a day".
A corrected version follows:
(ADPnews) - Nov 15, 2010 - US clean energy technology firm CebaiCMET has financed the first testing of a wave energy generator off the coast of Florida, according to local daily Florida Today.
The prototype wing unit, comprising 6,000-pound (2,700 kg) wings and one-ton generator, will be deployed on Wednesday in water deep 40 feet (12.2 metres) off Fort Pirece, the daily reported today.
The units are designed to generate energy from the motion of swell waves deep some 30 to 60 feet. They could use wave power also to desalinate water connecting to onshore desalination plants. Each unit could produce enough energy to purify some 500 million gallons of water a year.
SebaiCMET CEO Terence Bolden said that the unit would not supply energy to homes during the test, and added that the target was each unit to be able to power 200 to 250 households.
