Aug 22, 2013 - New Zealand power generation firm Contact Energy Ltd (NZE:CEN) on Tuesday said it had booked a net profit of NZD 199 million (USD 156m/EUR 117m) for its fiscal year through June, up 4.7% in annual terms.
Basic and diluted earnings per share advanced by 1.1% to NZD 0.272. The company will distribute a final dividend payout of NZD 0.25 per share.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation, change in fair value of financial instruments and other significant items (EBITDAF) grew by 6.3% year-on-year to NZD 541 million. Still, revenue declined by 6.5% to NZD 2.5 billion.
Contact Energy produced 9,879 GWh in the twelve months, 1% below the year-ago output. Production from the company’s hydropower plants rose by 23% due to increased rainfall, whereas geothermal output was 2,249 GWh, or 121 GWh less than a year before. The decreased geothermal generation in the period was caused by outages related to the commissioning of the 166-MW Te Mihi facility.
