Danish consultancy Ramboll Group A/S today announced the acquisition of two German onshore wind consultancies, BBB Umwelttechnik GmbH and CUBE Engineering GmbH.
The company said it wanted to position itself for the expanding onshore wind market, with Thomas Rand, managing director of Ramboll Energy, noting that global wind power was expected to grow at double digit rates for the next five years.
BBB and CUBE bring a total of 85 employees, meaning Ramboll will have almost 350 experts providing consultancy services on offshore and onshore wind globally.
"With the acquisition of BBB and CUBE, we will become a one-stop-shop player within onshore wind with a full-service offering within the value chain of wind energy projects and sufficient resources to take on large wind projects," said Rand.
As onshore wind development is shifting to utilities from farmers and smaller investors, the consultancy business is as a result also shifting to larger players, Ramboll noted.
The company further said the acquisition fit its strategy for growth in Germany and would accelerate its efforts within smart energy and large and medium-sized solar plants, which are part of CUBE’s service portfolio.
