CNOOC kicks off 1 GW offshore wind farm construction in China - report
(ADPnews) - Oct 26, 2010 - State-owned offshore energy producer China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) has started building a 1,000 MW offshore wind farm in China, according to a report by Inhabitat.com on Monday.
Construction of the project, located off northeastern China's shore in Bohai Bay in the Yellow Sea, started this week and is expected to complete in 2020, the report says.
The project has been under development since 2005. It has received USD 2.2 billion (EUR 1.58bn) funding from the government of China.
When operational, the farm is seen to be the largest offshore wind farm worldwide.
