(ADPnews) - Nov 17, 2010 - US biomass developer Clenergen Corp (PINK:CRGE) said yesterday it will install a 4-MW gasification biomass power facility in India under a memorandum of understanding signed with oil hydraulic equipment maker Yuken India Ltd (BOM:522108).
The power plant, which will be located at Yuken's manufacturing facility in Bangalore, will provide energy security to the company. The Indian firm said that regular power shortages in India's southern states are currently having a negative impact on its supply chain.
Clenergen's Indian arm will sign a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell up to 2.5 MW of the facility's production to Yuken. The rest will go towards the national grid. Clenergen said it will take 10 months to build and turn the switch on the facility, after the PPA has been signed. The company will lease up to 800 acres (324 hectares) of non-arable land in close proximity to the project site where it will grow its specialised bamboo species used as feedstock. Clenergen's bamboo is produced from tissue culture, resulting in an asexual, non-invasive, non-flowering plant with a lifespan of nearly 50 years.
