Clenergen signs MoU to build gasification biomass facility in Ghana
(ADPnews) - Nov 9, 2010 - US-based biomass developer Clenergen Corp (OTC:CRGE) said on Tuesday that it will install a 2-MWh gasification biomass facility at a mining property in southern Ghana, under a memorandum of understanding struck with Ghana Manganese Co Ltd.
The gasification power plant, to be located in Nsuta Wassaw, will be up and running a year after Clenergen's arm in Ghana signs a power purchase agreement for the production with a term of at least 15 years.
Clenergen Ghana Ltd plans to lease as much as 400 acres (160 hectares) of non-arable land in close proximity to the mining site where it will grow its specialised bamboo species used as feedstock. Clenergen's bamboo is produced from tissue culture, resulting in an asexual, non-evasive, non-flowering plant with a lifespan of nearly 50 years.
