July 11 (Renewables Now) - Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) will be the long-term sponsor equity provider for the 400-MW Gordon Butte Pumped Storage Hydro Project in the US state of Montana.

The developer of the project, Absaroka Energy LLC, said so early this week, without revealing the size of the investment. It said “the remainder of the capital structure will be determined prior to start of construction”.

Absaroka has in place a license for the construction and operation of the facility from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other permits. The energy storage project will be ready to enter construction next year.

The facility will be built in Meagher County, using equipment by GE Renewable Energy.
