Dec 5, 2011 - Bioethanol and biobutanol project developer China New Energy Ltd (LON:CNE) said today it had agreed to form a joint venture to exploit and commercialise bioethanol production technologies and engineering solutions in China and globally.
The company will hold a 34% stake in the entity -- Jilin Tianyi Biochemical Development Co Ltd. Chinese companies Jilin Ethanol Industrial Co Ltd and Jilin City Keda Applied Technology Development will hold 51% and 15% interests in it, respectively.
Jilin Ethanol Industrial has a corn processing capacity of two million tonnes a year, ethanol production capacity of 600,000 tonnes a year and additional capacities. It seeks to bolster its annual ethanol production to one million tonnes by 2013. The joint venture will use one of Jilin Ethanol Industrial's facilities in China.
At the same time, industrial biotechnology company Jilin City Keda is engaged in the development and commercialisation of enzymatic bioprocess. Jilin Tianyi is to combine Jilin City Keda's expertise in the field with the fermentation and engineering experience of China New Energy to provide an advanced feedstock treatment and fermentation process.
